Al Falah is a planned national housing city on the eastern mainland of Abu Dhabi, off the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed highway beyond the airport. It is laid out as five villages of large detached family villas, each with its own mosque, school and shops, and almost every home is a completed new build for an Emirati family. That makes a big share of the moves here first move-ins from a rented home elsewhere in the city, along with families moving between villages as houses are allocated.

A first move-in to Al Falah is a new-build job: fresh floors, stairs and door frames that need runners and corner guards, furniture arriving from the old home and from stores in the same week, and utilities that must be connected before the day. The villas are big, six and seven bedrooms with majlis rooms and gardens, and the streets are wide with driveways that take a truck. In summer the crew starts at 7 am and large homes are planned over two days.
